Commentary: WHAT IF . . . ?

In a new Georgia Health News Commentary piece, longtime health care actuary and strategist Ronald Bachman addresses an important health policy question:

What happens if the Supreme Court tosses out the federal health reform law?

Bachman argues that if the reform law is struck down, Georgia should not simply revert to its flawed insurance market.

Under existing insurance laws, Bachman writes, “1.8 million Georgians were uninsured, and fewer than 1 in 4 Georgians working in small businesses had coverage. Does Georgia want to go back to that situation? Or is it prepared to make needed changes to improve its insurance market and lower the number of uninsured?’’
