While local state prisons have reported more than 400 COVID-19 cases among staff and inmates, Augusta State Medical Prison has had the most among all prisons in the state.  According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, there have been 245 cases among inmates and 119 among staff members at the Augusta State Medical Prison on Gordon Highway. Six inmates and one staff member have died, and 111 staff members and 238 inmates have recovered.
