‘No one should die alone’: Nurses hold funeral for woman

There were no blood relatives at Ellen Louise Cavanaugh’s funeral on Sunday, but there was plenty of family. Cavanaugh, 87, took her final breath on Aug. 7 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by the nurses and caregivers who had come to know her during her time at the intensive care unit. On Sunday, those hospital personnel, as well as those who cared for her at Magnolia Manor in Midway, gathered inside a Fox & Weeks’ Hodgson Chapel to say goodbye to Cavanaugh.
