Commentary: Tips for Tom Price to improve health care quickly

The U.S. Senate is expected to confirm Rep. Tom Price of Georgia as President Trump’s secretary of Health and Human Services.

Price can take some actions on his first day in the job to improve the health insurance market, says the executive director of the Georgia Association of Health Plans.

In a new GHN Commentary, Graham Thompson says that three important reforms can happen on Day 1. Included among these is returning the responsibility for insurance regulation to the states.

“Health care is delivered locally, and health insurance companies manage networks with local providers,’’ Thompson writes. “Let’s allow local leaders the flexibility to work with insurers to design the best solutions for Georgia citizens.
