Dr. Patrick Battey has been named interim CEO for Piedmont Healthcare, and Greg Hurst has been named interim president and chief operating officer, the Atlanta-based health system announced Wednesday.
The appointments come after the July 30 death of Tim Stack, who had held both the CEO and president positions for Piedmont Healthcare.
Battey, a vascular surgeon, is also chair of Piedmont’s board of directors.
Hurst, who took over CEO duties in June when Stack began a medical leave of absence, will be responsible for all health system operations in his new roles.
Stack had led the nonprofit Piedmont since December 2001, building an organization with two hospitals into a five-hospital system with a 900-member physician network and $1.6 billion in annual revenues. Here’s a recent GHN article on Stack’s passing.
