Certificate of Need laws regulate health care facilities in Georgia — and they have provoked an endless stream of debate.

Every year, the General Assembly’s assemblage of bills contains proposed changes to CON, backed by proponents who say the current regulations have stymied worthwhile projects.

Retired health care executive Jack Bernard, in a new GHN Commentary, says proposals to overturn CON are misguided.
